Texas Dogwood is a very Hard wood , this was a small tree cut down about 8 years back
Preparation once dry was turned then sanded , a coat of thick epoxy thinned down some , was brushed on allowed to dry a week, then sanded threw grits upto 320. all the weather cracks are sealed .
then a tung oil applied making sure all the wood is treated .
then 3 coats of GLOSS UV finish was applied
this is a rare wood in turning since they do not grow very big in TX
You will not find many of these around and each one I make is unique
this is for the cigar / PIPE smoker who has it all
finished with Tung Oil then a UV satin non toxic hardener is applied
they are not easy to turn and are rare to ne seen any more but only online in specialty tobacco selling sites
