Hard maple Mallet Hammer by CrazyBearUSA
Hard Maple masher/Mallet with Australian Red River Gum Handle
the maple mallet is about 3 inches wide at one end and one &1/2 at other with length of about 6 inches
The maple wood just had such nice color and figure I could not send it to the fire box, since it did have some "checking" I sealed them with a Non Toxic epoxy and Purple/ Gold Eye candy brand tinting .
The mallet shaft is from a Hard wood called Australian Red River Gum (read bellow for details on wood ) is a about 1 " thick with a Tight turn into the maple Mallet
I used a 100% non Toxic food safe Tung Oil thinned with citrus solvent also food safe then a special Non Toxic wax finish I blend in the Shop is applied.
giving it a life time of use that can be passed down to your Children's children.
in 1998 I was in Europe, often ordering Prawn they are extra large shrimp , they would slice them split them then lay the shrimp out flat use a mallet to pound flat batter and fry , because they are flatter, they cook faster saving much of the flavor lost by over frying thick shrimp . Kinda how you use a Meat tenderising mallet .
try it you will love this way to cook your sea food
Even though this is food safe I use similar types of hammers in my shop for past 12 years when a metal or rubber mallet simply will not work .
When using for food simply use a mild soap or just rinse with warm water .
note is the screw in parts become tight add a little food safe oil to the threads .
Never put in dishwasher or micro wave any wood products and best if not left in direct sun light .
if you want to hang up the mallet just drop me a note on check out I will drill a 1/8" hole and drop a leather strap in at no extra charge
makes great gift for the person that is hard to shop for !! remember free shipping on orders over 35.00 so combine your gifts to save on shipping.
RED GUM >>>>>>Australian Red River Gum is a dense hardwood that typically show some bees wing figure on quarter sawn faces. Trees are typically 2-5 ft. in diameter but can be much larger. The interlocked grain is difficult to work but has an incredible finish that is well worth the effort. Reddish pink colors with a cream colored sapwood set this wood apart. This species originates from Australia. Eucalyptus camaldulensis
Special note side use I have taken of of them have been using it as a wooden shop mallet for about a year now works great with little to no wear ....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
